Hello, I am making a big investment in buying a new computer, I was just
wondering if It could run games like sims 3 or gta 4 with no
choppyness, and hopefully nice performance.
I am trying to learn more about computer specs but im having trouble finding a good source Anyways here they are Chasis : HAF 922 Processor : Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz (quad core) Motherboard -EVGA P55M SLI (Intel P55 Chipset) System Memory : 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series Video Card : 1xNVIDIA GeForce 250 1GB (includes PhysX technology) Cooling - AIR: Stage 1: High Performance Cooler, Upgrade chassis with LED performance Fans (Blue) (Up to 6 Fans) +59 Other features Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit Edition) overclock processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz overclock video card as much as possible with stability Cost: 1200$ Now for my budget (the funny part). I'm actually on a really low budget, currently making 7.25$ an hour (temporarily hopefully). I am a teen so I dont have many expenses, and right now many of my friends are on vacation so I can save alot of money after transportation cost. (40$ per paycheck). So next paycheck will be full time and I will be making 500ish $ every 2 weeks, also, my birthday is coming up this august. Suggestions? Note: My mother promised to help pay around 200-300$ , also, I have 250$ or so saved up so far. Edited by alexriv16 - 31 Jul 2010 at 10:50pm |

Hell I think there might even be some that are cheaper. Seriously throw a little doe there. Also, give an estimation for your budget. Please, say you can hit the sweet spot around $1,650 lol it will make things easy. If not there will be some harder decisions on what to cut out and what to keep.

i really cannot afford 1,650, my guardian almost freaked out even knowing it was 1200, the monitor I use I also use for television and console gaming.
Is there anything else i can do? |

427983 Try this out. If that doesn't work we can try and maybe get it lower.

ward is close to what id suggest, but drop the ram to 1333 mhz and pick up a gtx 460, that would also come with a free game worth $50 Edited by !ender_ - 02 Aug 2010 at 11:57pm |

I have a question, what makes what Ward suggested better? What features? and why drop the ram, what does the gtx 460 allow?. Thank you
Also, why not overclock everything for free? Edited by alexriv16 - 03 Aug 2010 at 10:16pm |

The GTX 460 is a much more powerful GPU, it is a great budget card. The 5770 is pretty bottom of the barrel, hard to get decent gaming on it. Since the 460 just came out it is a much better buy for the money.

drop the ram to save money, and the performance difference between 1333 and 1600 isnt worth the cost in your price range
the 460, as dragoon said.
dont overclock more than the CPU in a budget build becuase its just not needed, overclocking the 460 .. or really any video card with air cooling will just shorten the life and increase power draw and noise for little gains
what he chose isnt all that different from your first post, just saying i support most of his ideas. definitely avoid adding case fans in your price range, its not cost effective Edited by !ender_ - 04 Aug 2010 at 12:17am |
