My 8 year old DS is finally getting glitchy so it's time to move on. I'm looking at around $2300 budget. It will be mostly for gaming, Cities:Skylines, Fallout 4, Witcher 3 type stuff.  I also hope to get into VR.

I chose the Coridium case because I really don't like all that glass the rest of them have all over them. (and it's cheaper)

My questions are:
Does the Coriduim case provide enough cooling? I can live with glass if I need to.
Is the Stage 1 copper air cooling enough?
Do I need the 750 watt PSU or should I dial it back to the stock 600 watt?
I went with the GTX1080 instead of the 1070 because this will probably be my last computer so I need it to be somewhat future-proof.  I would appreciate any advice you can offer.  Thanks.

So I will try to answer your questions one by one

1) From what I can see the Coridium has 2 front fan(input), one at back and two on top. It will be able to create decent air flow and keep your system cool. Just make sure to get some decent fans!

2) Ok I am not sure about this, but Air cooling is sufficient as long as your don't OC a PC

3) Get the 750w

4) Yup GTX 1080 should give you about 2 years (play everything on full details)

Btw what screen do you got? if you got a 1080p screen the GTX1080 will last quite long!

I'll be playing at 1080p.  My eyes aren't what they used to be so all that fancy 4k stuff would just be wasted on me. Smile
I have no interest in overclocking but I just have the feeling this system could be right on the edge between air and liquid cooling.
  Thanks

The Coridium case is what I have. Cooling is good. The air cooler will do for you. Everything else looks good also. definitely stay with the 750W PSU.

You might as well get the internal lighting. Can't beat free! You can select from 358 different effects including a static single color or even off.

IMO that rig with a GTX 1080 will give you several years at high settings at 1080p. If you could swing it, I'd recommend the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon for the best motherboard in your price range, but it's not a biggie.

Thanks Cretae.  That motherboard looks pretty good.  I'll have to get another price increase clearance from "the boss" but it's probably a go.

Lights, huh?  I really don't like lights in my computer so it would always be turned off but, damn it, if I can get it for free I WANT it! Hahaha

I'm pushing this computer beyond what I really need but I retire in a few months so my discretionary funds for new computers and major upgrades will dry up real quick.  This one has to last. Hopefully, even longer than the 8 years of my last DS comp. Smile

Thanks for your help Smile

My last DS served me for 7.5 years. I just got my upgrade in January. Looks a lot like yours. That CPU may well last for the long haul. My ancient one from 2010 was still doing well. Maybe a GPU upgrade 3-5 years down the line depending on what you play, and I see no reason you can't do another eight. It's what I like about DS, built to last!

My pleasure!
