If I go to the aventum, I may be sacrificing or upgrading storage.

I’ll be going from 2 - 2 TB M.2 to the following

OS - Digital Storm 512 GB M.2
Second - m.2 2 Tb
Third - 3 Tb HDD

Is that ok or bad?

Why would you feel the need to change the drives? Also, DS branded m.2 is a SATA interface. There are two types of m.2.......SATA interface that’s plenty fast but the same speed as standard SDD and NVME interface that’s many times faster than SATA.

If you’re spending all this money, just get the fastest for not that much more.

You may find, as I did, that having a smaller MVMe drive for your OS and productivity/maintenance apps lets you divide things between work, play, and raw storage needs. I'd recommend the 500GB 970 EVO NVMe M.2 for primary.

With the above apex (3 drives) it costs $400 less trying to keep it around $7200

NVMe for primary (storage 1) is recommended based on your budget.
