You can never have to much cooling, you'll just raise the noise level is all you'll do by adding the extra fans.
Better yet even you could upgrade to the 950Si and pick up some optional side fans. |

I actually have that case, is a Cooler Master 830. I actually took the 4 side fans off mine, and inserted an extra 4 to 1 module in the front that has an extra intake. I keep it on the bottom of the case blowing directly on the video card, with my hard drives in the other near the top, which blows on the north bridge area of my 680i mobo, also hits the ram some as well. Keeps it just as cool as before. The board run about 3C warmer than before, but the bottom fan I put on blows directly on the GPU with out any interference whatsoever. Thats just me though, I hate extra noise if its not totally necessary. Plus, I love the look of the case. Its sleek, and not so ordinary looking. Keep the case. It gets dusty fairly quick though, but Can-O-Air every other week works just fine
I just took it apart to get it ready for priming/painting, so IF i can figure out how to put it back together aagain, ill be sure and take pics, that way if you want to do it you will know what it will look like. Looks sweet!

Is it enough to support good (i.e., 3GHz) on the CPU? I really don't want to use water, and I want to avoid top fans, as I set my coffee on top of the case.

Follow up on the "is it overkill" and "is it enough..." questions.
I have no experience with water cooling and have "rejected" it on the grounds that I cannot afford to have a pool of coolant on my wifes living room carpet. (I need a place to sleep!) Is leaking a real worry? Is liquid cooling really that much better? Should I consider liquid cooling if I want to push my processor in the 850Si case. If I use it, could I get by with a 750Si case? Lots of questions. The price is an issue. Comments/Suggestion? What combination of case cooling would you suggest? |

LC done by DS is air tight, you can flip the case all around with no spill.
if you want to push yes LC is the way to go for sure. the v8 you have could get you to 3.0, we have people on the v8 ranging from 3.2GHz to 3.8GHz. |
