Budget:
~$4k Expectations: Quiet, relatively future proof, reliable Usage: Primarily VR (Rift S). Although would like to augment and potentially replace my consoles (Xbox, Playstation 4) That would be done on 65" LED TV. Also occasionally stream movies. My plan is not to have a monitor, just the panel. Wireless keyboard and touchpad for any interactions that need to be done with a keyboard/mouse. Gaming to be done with wireless remote (type TBD) Special Needs: Quiet. In the main living area. High animal load (multiple cats, dogs)Location would be on floor next to entertainment system, TV, so any suggestions on minimizing impact to system appreciated Saved Ticket #: 3731781 Specifications: Chassis Model: Digital Storm Velox Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (12-Core) 4.8 GHz Turbo (BACKORDER ETA FEBRUARY)
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero (Wi-Fi) (AMD X570 Chipset) (Up to 3x PCI-E Devices)
System Memory: 32GB DDR4 3000MHz G.Skill TridentZ (RGB Light Bar)
Power Supply: 850W Digital Storm Performance Series (Modular) (80 Plus Gold) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: - No Thanks Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 970 EVO) (NVM Express)
Storage Set 2: - No Thanks
Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 3080 10GB (Performance Edition) (VR Ready)
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (Dual Fan) (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance) HydroLux Tubing Style: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected HydroLux Fluid Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Corsair LL Series (RGB Fans) (Software Controlled Effects)
Internal Lighting: Remote Controlled Advanced LED Lighting System (Multiple RGB Color Modes)
Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stock Factory Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking Boost Graphics Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional (64-Bit Edition)
Recovery Tools: USB Drive - Windows 10 Installation (Format and Clean Install) Virus Protection: Windows Defender Antivirus (Built-in to Windows 10) Office: - No Thanks Mouse Pad: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 20-25 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) |

Well, you spent north of $4000 so there's that.
I'd be interested in hearing what that CPU, which you may not see until April-ish will do for gaming on a TV. (My short answer: Nothing.) All I got. |

Thanks. Is there another CPU you would recommend? And is it a fools errand to consider using the TV as a monitor? |

A lot of people use hi-def bigscreens for gaming. It's plenty immersive, I imagine, but it's a TV, so you're never going to have the response and dedicated use of a computer monitor. You can always adapt in a different direction at another time.
The 5800X is more than enough for you, But I can't keep track of what's currently in stock. Make them commit before you order it. Their supply is very inconsistent from AMD. |

Thanks for the help. It's a lot of info to process when you don't know what you are doing, so I appreciate the advice
