How do you get windows 7 for free? Is it offered through your school?
I'm a student as well, so it'd be cool to know. |

@sebas it depends on your school. Check with your book store or student services and they may offer it for you. LIke my school doesnt offer Windows 7 free but they offer and Upgrade to windows 7 Ult for 29.95 and Microsoft office 2010 Pro for 29.95. Even if your school doesnt offer it you probably know someone at another university that gets the benefit and all you need to do is get that hook up.

Yea I checked it out. Apparently I could get it for free, but only if I was in a Computer Science course. Otherwise I only get the standard $29.99 student discount from microsoft for windows professional--which would be fine except that I don't know how a buy and download program would work for a new computer without software on it.

IM not sure on that one either. One of the guys here should be able to chime in and tell you but I what I believe is that you should be able to download it from the computer where you are to a USB Flash drive then with your new rig with a empty drive have it boot up and load the install from the flash drive...
As I was typing this up I pulled this up from the windows site that tells you exactly how to do it. Dunno how complicated it will be but Im sure someone will be able to give you the run down. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7 |
