I'm trying to keep my next build around $3500 before taxes and shipping.

Here are the main specs of my current build from which i will be upgrading from.

·         Asus Rampage Formula LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor

2X Corsair XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

EVGA 512-P3-N865-AR GeForce 9600GT KO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3

Here are the two different builds i am looking at:
449854 and
449853

I will mainly be using the computer for heavy gaming and multitasking:
Ex: Call of duty, Eve online, RUSE, Fallout New Vegas ect.
I also do a lot of video and photo editing.

Anyway i can get more bang for my buck?

Thanks for all the help.

you asked about bang for buck, so for price:performance

id avoid the hex core, unless youre encoding as a job, that money would be far better spent getting 2 480s over 2 470s ESPECIALLY if you are doing cuda capable rendering

id get more SSD space than 40gb in your price/want range and stick with under 1 tb drives for reliability in my personal opinion, thats too many eggs in one basket

12gb ram wont show much if any benefit over 6

in the realm of air cooling you would be hard pressed to see any benefit from the REIII over an sli3

need a bigger power supply

thats the main stuff, check out the guide in my signature if you havent yet

That is what I would recommend.  $3349 and will last you for many years of gaming.
