    Posted: 17 Jun 2010 at 8:17pm
I just recieved my new rig and i keep getting an error message "Nvidea windows kernal mode driver 257.21 has stopped responding and was recovered"  At first it was very sporadic mostly on desktop or while browsing the web...and there was no definable cause, however I just recently installed the free game and it froze within 30 secs of running...WoW seemed to be unaffected until i was in an AoE fight and then it started to put little black squares all over my screen became very laggy and finally froze to the point that i had to reset.  In case it needs to be known when it happens the screen goes black for a couple seconds then comes back on with the previously mentions error message.
I have tried reseating everything, rolling back the gfx 480 drivers, updating to the latest drivers all to no avail.  A google search showed alot of peeps having this issue but no answers..so i turned to you guys who made designing a system so easy with your knowledge (thanks again for that)  please if anyone can help i would be most gratefull it sucks to have an awesome rig and not be able to use it.....thanks again Docecks

is the card overclocked?
what are the max temps you are seeing under load?
with Nvidia you need to uninstall the drivers, restart, run driver sweeper, restart, install new drivers, restart, then play Big%20Smile

have you tried newer drivers?
sounds like the card is getting hot, that is why I asked to see the temp, GPUz or MSI afterburner will show you the temps, MSI afterburner will allow you to run ramp the fan up faster, to keep things cooler also.
If uninstalling the drivers, driver sweeping them, and re-installing does not fix it, andthe temps are good, then we can look at other causes.
