So I've got a PC on the way and am looking for an enclosure. I'd like to keep it in an unmounted stand alone and not on the desk. I'm imagining a metal mesh container with a swing door in the front. I can out an adhesive child lock on somrthing like that. Google and amazon searches are failing me- all I can find are server racks and fully enclosed, safe-like boxes that would have no airflow. Any thoughts or recommendations would be helpful!

Advise strongly against any metal enclosure for a pc...not even adult-safe to do that...lol.

If you have active toddlers, think you really need the rig up out of their way on a desktop.   If you must, you can use normal plastic or wood childsafe barriers around the desk to keep the kids back..

DS rigs are aesthetic things of tech beauty & color on display sir...
I keep mine up on desktop risers behind the monitors, so you can
see all the nice gear inside the case at work!

Good point on the metal. I don't mind showing it off, if the solution makes that possible, but that part takes a back seat to the isolating/access solution.

I have frequent toddler visits from the gkids....and 2 DS rigs on desks located in accessible places.   If you are not there to defend the rig from the lil’ invaders, recommend shutting down to eliminate the interest, or just shut down your monitor(s) when munchkins are on the rampage.

You might want to look in pet stores. They might have a cage that fits your needs.
It will look kind of interesting, in a Mad Max sort of way, to have a system in a cage. Let us know how you go. With kids, there might not be a second chance.
