I'm pretty sure my krypton, which arrived last week, has a dead pixel.  I don't remember seeing it before, but when I booted up this evening, I noticed an unchanging dark blue/purplish color dot towards the upper left of the screen (though not in the corner by any means).  Is this what you'd define as a dead pixel?  If so, what is to be done about it?

*edit*  I tried rebooting it to see if maybe it was a one time start-up issue.  No, there it was, clear as day.  I don't think it's been there the whole time as it was very bright against the black background and I *think* I would have noticed it.

*edit 2* As mentioned in my follow-up reply, I think it's actually a stuck pixel.  Subject edited to reflect.

After Googling it a bit, it appears to me that it's likely a stuck pixel and not a dead pixel.  I found this webpage for recommending how to fix it.  Are there any of these methods I should try?  I don't think I really like the tapping idea...  I tried using a Youtube video where the screen flashes through various colors really fast then I gently rub it with a Qtip, but that didn't work.

I've used the tap & pressure method - using an mildly rounded but smaller tipped plastic instrument. I got it work but that was some time ago - not sure how different newer displays are now compared with 6-8 years ago as far as fixing stuck pixels...

I would contact DS about this (not sure on replacement/repair or help on getting it unstuck). Good luck!!

I'm not sure what the best solution here would be as a remedy, but, I hope it's not in a dead center area of your display? There are a few remedies online on how to resolve the issue, but make sure they do not damage the display.

Here's our policy on display pixels:

Since Digital Storm does not directly manufacture LCD panels for our monitors or laptops, we are going to pass over the same warranty terms that Digital Storm has with the manfactuer(s) to the customer. If any of the three conditions are met or exceeded, Digital Storm will replace the unit for the customer:

Over 6 bright dots or 6 black dots or 6 mixed bright and block dots in total.

That's kind of a disappointing policy since I couldn't imagine having five pixels like this.  It's towards the upper left.  It's generally only easily noticable on black backgrounds.  Any white, gray, blue, etc generally make it hard if not impossible to see.
