I currently have the following setup:

System Configuration:
Chassis Model: Digital Storm Krypton 17.3 Inch Laptop (Model: S:8295)
Display: 17.3 Inch (16:9) (Resolution: 1920 x 1080) (Anti-glare) LED-Backlit Display
Processor: Intel Core i7 4800MQ (Up to 3.70Ghz) (Quad Core) (6MB Cache)
Thermal Compound: Premium CPU and GPU Thermal Compound (Reduces Thermal & Laptop Noise)
Memory: 32GB DDR3 1600MHz (4x8GB) (Requires Windows Pro or Higher)
mSATA SSD: 240GB mSATA Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: 530 Series) (SATA 6Gbps)
Storage Drive 1: 750GB 7200RPM (SATA 3Gb/s)
Storage Drive 2: - No Thanks
Optical Drive: DVD/CD 8x Multi-Drive (Writes and Reads DVDs, CDs)
Wireless Card: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth 4.0
Graphics Card(s): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB with NVIDIA Optimus
Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit Edition)

Was wondering if I can upgrade the GPU? If not, is it possible to do something like an external GPU setup using a PCIe connection?  I was under the impression that the Wireless card could be removed and was PCIe, however, I have not been able to locate it.  Where can I find the layout for each of the components in the laptop?

I bought the Krypton back in July 2014 and mine is running the 880m and the 4810mq.. my understanding that you can upgrade the CPU and GPU. I have looked at the Clevo case nvidia 880m and they are very expensive

Perhaps Nav or Alex can let us know if the recent Kryptons can be upgraded to a 980M/970 and a ballpark of the cost.  I'm curious as well.  I'm running the same Krypton setup as police215.

Sure, if you just want the graphics card, here's the price:

GTX 970M = $468
GTX 980M = $767

Ouch!  Upset

Also, Alex, will it affect warranty if we just order the card from DS or install it ourselves, or does DS need to do the install as well?  If the latter, what's the cost on top of shipping back and forth?

You could install them yourselves, it won't void warranty. As long as the laptop does not get physically damaged.

Thanks, Alex.  Chances are I'd probably make a day trip to DS and have you upgrade it anyhow if I go for the upgrade.

Sounds good. We'll have to order the card ahead of time which can take up to a week, so do work out a plan with our team when you're ready to do this.

Is it possible to do an external GPU using PCIe? Not sure if there is an exposed point to be able to do it.

There isn't a Thunderbolt 2 port on the Krypton so it wouldn't really be possible unless something was extremely jerry rigged and would likely void warranty.
