I'm strongly considering the Lachesis, after being unhappy with the string of mice I've tried in the recent past.  Does anyone here own it, or have playtested it?

Specifically, I'm looking for a few features in this mouse that I haven't heard about from reviews.  First, are the side buttons programmable with Ctrl and Shift?  I live by this, and I had to return the G9 because Setpoint 5.0 wouldn't allow those settings without an inane workaround.  Second, I've read about uncomfortable ridges in the mouse, is that true?  Finally, I've got pretty big hands, and prefer to palm the mouse over the "claw" style; is the Lachesis comfortable for those of you with big mitts.

Appreciate the responses :-)

I have the Lachesis, It's a nice mouse but I like the copperhead better.  the Lachesis was also causing my computer to restart for no reason, I am still trying to figure why my computer doesn't like that mouse.   XP hates the Lachesis but Vista loves it.   If you just have Windows Vista then get it but if you have XP I wouldn't consider it, unless my incident is a flook but I dunno.

I am really loving this G15 keyboard though.   The tarantula was also causing my XP to reset as well.   You wouldn't believe the hell I went through to figure out what was causing my XP to reboot 20 seconds after booting XP. lol

I'm sorry to hear that, what a strange problem.  I'm running XP for the time being, but will probably go to Vista in the near future for the sake of DX10.  I might give it a try and return it if that problem happens; my curiosity is getting the best of me, and I have no patience, lol.

As far as the G15, I'm 110% with you.  I have 2 of the older models and 1 of the new rendition spread among my work computer, my gaming computer, and my g/f's PC, and don't think I could live without it.  The Lycosa does look pretty nice though!

I just recieved my Lycosa in the mail a few days ago.  It looks nice but can not hook it up to my old system as I don't have any USB plugs left.  But, it will be hooked up to my new one!

Just a heads up on the Lachesis, I ended up buying it, and returning it the next day.

I'm fanatical about hotkeys, and always make the side mouse buttons Ctrl and Shift.  The Lachesis' current driver has an issue where holding an assigned side button down doesn't create the "holding" effect on the computer, but rather just a button press.  For example, if the side button is assigned to Ctrl in an FPS and you use Ctrl to duck, holding the button won't let you crouch until you release, you'll just bob down and up.

I contacted Razer, and they sent me an email acknowledging that this is a known error, and will be fixed in the future.  Only problem was, that could be a day, or three months, and I don't want to sit on the mouse until then.  I was disappointed to return it though, because it felt great.
