Hey guys I am considering getting a laptop soon and will mostly be using it for gaming along with school work/homework.  I would like to keep my budget at around 3k or so.  I want to be playing at a res of 1920 x 1200 and want the 17" screen.  I can't decide between the 2 s17 models that are available.  Any suggestions?Ouch

with the $500 promotion, I would go with the s17 and i7 950 cpu

laptops run warm period, the 920 and 950 are D0 stepping so they run cooler then the C0 stepping version.
