Hey Guys, I've just received the xm15 laptop I ordered recently.

It runs great at first, but after putting a few things in and got to 44.5 GB used space and 29.7 GB free space, I noticed that when i right click for refresh, it takes like 1+ second for it to show up.

Is there anyway to speed up my laptop performance while not deleting my files? Do I need to purchase any external drives to boost my laptop processing speed?

And here is my laptop specs:

Chassis Model: Digital Storm xm15 Laptop (Model: 5165)
Display: 15.6 Inch (95% NTSC Color Gamut) (Matte Surface) (16:9) (1920 x 1080) LED-Backlit Display
Processor: Intel Core i7 2630QM (2.0 GHz Turbo Mode to 2.9Ghz) (Quad Core) (6MB Cache)
Thermal Compound: Premium IC Diamond CPU and GPU Thermal Compound (Reduces Thermal & Laptop Noise)
Memory: 6GB DDR3 1333MHz
Primary Hard Drive: Intel 80GB SSD (320 Series) (SATA 3Gb/s)
Secondary Hard Drive: - Not Available
Optical Drive: DVD/CD 8x Multi-Drive (Writes and Reads DVDs, CDs)
Wireless Card: Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1103 (Reduces Latency for Online Gaming)
Video Card(s): NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 2GB with NVIDIA Optimus Technology
Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition)
Warranty Plan: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty

Thanks for reading, and I hope there will be solutions.

If you need more space in your laptop for games and applications, then you can either do one of these:

1) Replace the Intel 80 GB SSD with a Seagate 500GB 7200RPM with 4GB SSD. You get more space and a quicker boot time over a regular notebook hard drive, but it won't be as fast as the Intel SSD.

2) Replace the Intel 80 GB SSD with a Western Digital or Seagate 750 GB 7200RPM Hard Drive.

3) Buy an Intel 160 GB, 300 GB, or 600 GB SSD to replace the 80 GB, but it will be very expensive.

No one has tried this option so beware:
4) Buy a 40 GB or 80 GB m-SATA (micro-SATA) SSD and add it into the slot, and then use your existing Intel 80 GB SSD for addition storage or replace it with a larger hard drive. Many people are assuming that the empty slot is for a m-SATA SSD, since the wireless and blue-tooth card are already in use. Inside the service manual, it doesn't specify if a m-SATA can be used. Feel free to let us know!

I'm moving this thread to "General Discussion" as this is not a thread for a new purchase for configuration advice.

For the m-sata drive, it's a possibility, but no one so far has confirmed whether it will even work. From the research that I gathered though, the slot is most likely not linked to a SATA slot at all, and will not function as a m-SATA inlet; however, I haven't had a model to physically inspect myself, so I can't say whether it's true or not. If anyone wants to try it, installing a m-sata ssd shouldn't have any negative drawbacks in the event that it doesn't work, and you should just be able to return it if it doesn't, heh.

Another option you may pursue is to get an optical drive bay hard drive caddy, and install another hard drive in there. You give up the optical drive though, to have the ability to run combination hard drive setups.

I haven't been looking into SB laptops, but they don't happen to have Smart Response in them, do they?
