Good day everyone. I'm trying to decide which way to go. I know I will have more power and options with a desktop but, the portabilty of a laptop means I can take my games with me. My question is can I play all the games with a laptop. Can anyone help me with what I would need to a make a laptop work. Is this wishing for too much. Thank you very much for whatever info you can give me.

I'd say it really depends on your lifestyle and what you want to use your computer for. I don't own a laptop, but it is something that I would like to get at some point, but my need isn't a high priority for one. I don't do a ton of traveling and my job really has no need for a laptop,so I haven't gotten one yet. They definitely have some really cool computers here, laptop and desktop alike. You'll be happy you chose DSO!

I was debating over the same decision, as in the winter I travel a good bit and like to have something with me. I ended up backing off the specs just slightly on each, going over a budget a bit, and did both (the desktop is on order from here).
You can definitely get a laptop that will work with today's games, for a premium though. You will get more bang for your buck with a desktop, and you probably won't be running games at the same resolution as on a desktop. Usually, the big drawback of a laptop is upgradeability. I did order one from elsewhere that is upgradeable (not sure if it is proper etiquette to post it here) . I can upgrade just about everything but the motherboard, including processor and video card. Even then, though, I'm at the mercy of future processors, for example, being compatible with this motherboard. It did take a desktop processor, which kept the price down, but didn't take the latest and greatest mobile video card, so there was a sacrifice there. I'd google notebook forums, and you'll find a few forums that discuss notebooks. That's where I did a bunch of homework before shopping. My last notebook I've had just over 4 years, but I have not tried the latest games on it (it is now below spec on many). It does run Neverwinter Nights 2 just fine on low settings. |

IMO, laptops to me are something people should really need for college or buisness. I just can't stand playing a game on a laptop since desktops are so much better. If I go out and need to play games or something I will just use the PS3's remote feature it has for the PSP and either watch a movie that is in the system through my PSP or play a video game that's in the system through my PSP. other then that, I leave laptops to the college or buisness men/women

Well it just depends on how much you think you'll be away from home, using the laptop imo. I got a desktop from DS and I'm really really happy with it! I don't really do much traveling or have much need to go portable right now so a desktop is working fine. Although, I'll be going to college in about 2 years so I'm planning on getting a laptop from DS at about that time. Then I'll be prepared for college and be ready for some gaming on the go =P
