My laptop is stuck running in the resolution of 1024x768 or 800x600. It used to run in 1366x768 which was ideal. How can I get it back to the original setting?

I have used a HD cable to attach it to a TV which I change the resolution for but in this case I can't change it back.

right click the desktop>screen resolution and hit detect in the right hand side. then you should be able to change it to 1366x768 again. have this problem with my external monitor on my laptop (non ds) occasionally.
