This should be my last request for feedback.
Initially, I had looked at the Slade because living in the desert and having cats, I worry about dust. While I believe that the Slade would be the best case for the environment, I really just didn’t find it that aesthetically pleasing. Then I looked at the Hailstorm and I really liked it, until I began reviewing the case and realized how big it is. I had also looked into liquid cooling for that one, but even if you only need to do liquid maintenance on it every three years or so, I had some very real concerns about it. I come by my nickname (Shakey) honestly and the thought of trying to get liquids into a small space inside of a computer scared me off. With all that in mind, I went back to the drawing board and decided on the Velox and instead of the liquid cooling, I plan to stick with the Noctua. It’s what I have in my first DS and I have never had any issues with heat. So, unless anyone sees any configuration issues with the build below, I am placing the order within a day or two! Also, I'd like to offer a big thanks to bprat22 for taking the time to answer my questions! Hi Shakey... It was my pleasure helping.
That build looks almost right on. If you can spend a few more dollars change the power supply to the other EVGA 750 watt. It's a better supply with more efficiency and much longer warranty. Worth the extra bucks. You could also go for the 980ti Strix for a bit more. It's factory over clocked with presets through their GPU TWEAK software , a more stable voltage regulation with its larger custom circuit board. Also the fans are 0 rpm, meaning the fans stay off until the low 60c temp. The reference 980 ti is still excellent if the overclock isn't for you. Looks great and stay in touch. Good to see the Noctua is still being picked. It's a great cooler that just works, year after year with no firmware, pumps or tubing to worry about. Nice. Edited by bprat22 - 17 Apr 2016 at 5:38pm |

Just the kind of feedback I was looking for - Thank you! I changed the parts out to the ones you mentioned.
750W EVGA SuperNOVA 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB (ASUS Strix Edition) (VR Ready) It only added about $50 so no big deal. I want it to be right when I place the order. |
