I would get the 2600K CPU, many of the new games use 6 threads, that would leave 2 left over for background apps while gaming. I would get the 1Tb HDD, faster than the 500Gb by a good margin, and you don't want to fill a hard drive up over 60-70% performance starts takes a huge hit after around the 50% mark

Thanks for the tip on hard drives. I did not know that. Fortunately the cost for a 1tb is very low.
The cpu upgrade is more costly though. That might be difficult.
I read an article that said gpu's eat your ram, and they advised more than 4gb ram...any thoughts on that?

GPU's eat RAM? nope. gaming wise, more than 4Gb of RAM will not help one single bit

Good to know. I have had some trouble getting a definative answer to the following: "Is 8 ram of any real value over 4 ram when all you do is play games?" |

amount of ram = more multi tasking.
so if you are runing one game at a time, 4GB is more then enough, if you are running multiple things at a time then you may need more ram, depending, ram/hdd/gpu are all things you can add/upgrade later easily. still under your budget, but feel free to change teh hdd and etc back to whatever you want: Here you go Ticket# 485031 --- $1839 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Overclock the processor between 3.6GHz to 3.9GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Logitech Media Combo MK200 Keyboard and Mouse Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty so you have a monitor that supports 2560 x 1600 res? |

Yes, I have one of those 30" Dells I bought about two years ago when I had extra money laying around. Not so much free cash right now!
Generally I will try out a game on 2560x1600 and lower it if I have to.
Thanks for the config assistance by the way.
So the haf 932 is overkill?

Well its a little bigger and we normally recommend those to people who what to add stuff to their pc, if you are not going go sli IMO the 922 should do a great job, of course the 932 has 3 large fan vs the 2 large fan of the 922, but you can add the third large fan to the 922.
