Greetings DS fam.
Qualifiers: mega noob when it comes to hardware. My order from DS arrived & it’s my first desktop unit (had laptops through college & first job is all Mac stuff). So apologies for the maybe super obvious clarification I’m about to seek. My specs are at the bottom in-case they’re relevant. Question: I have a standing desk at my apartment (where I do all of my free time tech stuff). This is where I intend to use and house my new DS pc! The height of the bolt x (or more realistically, my excessive paranoia in general about everything) makes me feel somewhat nervous about standing the bolt upright on said desk. I go for a pretty sleek minimalist look at my apartment and I don’t want to add any unnecessary suspension wires or belts etc to ensure it won’t get knocked over by my extremely clumsy arms / friends. Can I lay the bolt on its side? Obviously I can lay it on its side — but will this have any adverse effects in the way of performance, dust & cooling management or other machine health & longevity factors? Thanks in advance, all! Reading through the sheer responsiveness of the DS community definitely factored into my purchase. Cheers. Yes, you can lay it on it’s side. The Corsair H115i is a sealed unit and doesn’t care it’s orientation. The other parts also don’t need to be right side up. I would however put spaces or feet on all four corners to allow airflow for the bottom air chamber or if there’s a fan on the back.
Congrats on the new rig.

"Verified Customer" is simply ensuring that your order email address and forum email address are "EXACTLY" the same (case sensitive).
Welcome to DS and Congrats on the Bolt! Edited by Snaike - 26 Feb 2018 at 2:37am |

Bolt-x here, anyone know if I will be able to lay it on its side with a full custom loop? (GPU+CPU)

The custom loop, the Swiftech h220 or so, has a pump pickup port that needs to stay immersed in the fluid in the reservoir. If the reservoir stays mostly filled, then no problem. If the fluid level lowers like it can do, you might have an issue, depending on which side.
If you do lay it on the side, use feet at 4 corners to allow airflow.
