I am planning on going with a stage 4 LC system for my new rig (HAF 932 case), but from what I read, the high speed fan/radiator set that DS uses is quite noisy.  I want to just send DS a different set and have them install that one instead.  From a much earlier thread, I noticed justin.kerr suggested the XSPC RX series radiators.  I wanted to know if this would be a good fan/radiator combination? and if there are other things I should add such as different reservoir (I like the dual bay XSPC one I've seen in other people's builds if that's the one DS uses), pump, etc..?

Opinions or anything else I should know?

For Alex or anyone at DS, would this affect my warranty in any way?

i was curious why are you going to LC on one of the top rated air cooling cases in the business?

Mainly for looks, but I do like to run my temps as low as possible.  I don't really want to dwarf everything in my case with one of those monster noctuas.  Plus I've got some extra money to waste on it.

Do you think I would be better off with the Hailstorm case for single loop LC?

I know that hailstorm is better for a full dual loop system, but I'm just LC'ing the processor.  I figured the GPU might be better cooled with the HAF.  I'm not overclocking the GPU, so it's not a big deal.  I just want the best cooling w/o having to mount an exterior rad.

And I agree, the hailstorm does look better with the LC.  I like the looks of the hailstorm better.  I just don't like the poor air flow.  Big%20Smile

if you're only going to use 1 GPU you should be fine with just the air available since the GPU has it's own fan.

Ok, I'll probably switch over to the hailstorm case then.  Just curious though, what makes the hailstorm better for LC?  Both the HAF and Hailstorm have basically the same placement and internal capacity for a rad (360 at the top, and a 120 on the back).  Hailstorm is pretty much sealed with limited air flow, and HAF is open with much greater air flow.   Other than dust, I would think that greater air flow would be better, LCS or not.

That still brings me back to the original question.  Is that a good choice of fan/rad combo to go to a quiet LCS and still have good cooling?  Is there anything else in the LCS that would be good to swap out since I would already be sending them parts for it?  Maybe add a shroud (if there's room)?  Make it push/pull with 6 fans (if there's room)?

This will be my first LCS.  I want it for looks sure, but it also gives me something to learn from.  I want the first one I have setup by someone who knows what they're doing (DS in this case), and do it right.

The fan choice you selected won't affect your warranty but, honestly it's just the fan RPM speed that makes the noise. Your better off sticking with our liquid cooling fans that have high RPMs and selecting our Stage 1 Noise Suppression package which will ensure you receive a quiet system across the board.

Alex has a good suggestion, the Zalman F3's are good fans, just higher speed, so they cool very well, but are just loud. by reducing the voltage to them in the noise suppression package, you will have a good, quiet setup.

You can also get a fan controller to manually speed up or slow down the fans as needed.
Because I have enough room in most of my cases, I use San ace 38mm  fans, they are the best, or panaflows.. then the next best are 25mm thick fans, the Gentle Typhoons. But the Zalman f3's, that Digital Storm use, are not far behind the Gentle Typhoos, the are just a bit louder per CFM when on a radiator.
