Hello! I’m an absolute noob, I know almost nothing about computers other than hitting the power button. However, I’ve recently become obsessed with Minecraft and I’m interested in getting a good gaming PC in order to play on the servers and use mods. My question is if the least expensive, Level 1 model of Vanquish 7 is enough, or should I go ahead and get a higher level? I know they are upgradable but I’m nervous about doing it myself. Not planning on playing other games that would be more “graphics intense” or whatever. Thanks for the help!

the main thing to keep in mind with the Vanquish Lvl 1 is that it has what is called an INTEGRATED GPU, meaning there is no separate GPU. Should you wish to upgrade to the level 2, or even purchase a card separately (as they are fairly easy to install), you will notice an increase in performance.

The Smart Guys will be along soon to help out.

Although the video demands from Minecraft are relatively modest, the consensus seems to be that a dedicated card is recommended for high settings and consistent frame rates. Since you also want to mod, I'm not going to argue with that. That puts you at the level 2, which is way above average.

Your absolutely best route for the future would be to buy the level one and order your own GTX 1060 6GB. That card will perform well for all games at 1080p resolution for a long time to come. I know you tremble at the thought of opening up a computer case and messing with stuff. We've ALL been there. Just take a look at the "View our Support Guides" section here and see how it's done for a video card. It's pretty easy. Just be sure your rig is unplugged and you handle the case first to be sure you're grounded.

If that's still too daunting, the level 2 will be fine for your favorite game for years!

Ha, I am trembling at the thought of cracking it open and damaging something, but I’m eager to learn to do this type of work myself. Thanks so much for your advice, I really appreciate it!

That was me, 4 years ago (?!) with my shiny new Vanquish 2 and my big ol' gorilla mitts.

Since then, with the invaluable assistance of The Smart Guys® that hang out around here, I've been able to upgrade the RAM (8Gb to 16GB), update the GPU (PNY GTX770 to EVGA GTX1070), and add another SSD (Samsung 850 EVO / 500Gb).

It's still one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Enjoy!

Welcome to DS. Don't worry about adding RAM or gpus. They are really the easiest, apart from blowing the dust from the fans, things to do on a pc. We are here to help, or at least some more knowledgeable members. I am also learning.
Good luck and have no fear. Big%20Smile
