I've read that the lightscribe optical drives are SATA drives and ordering the special (round) cabels is not required. The info on the drives specifies E-IDE/ATAPI (love initials). When I google this it seems the drives have the basic 40pin interface and no mention of SATA (cables or otherwise).
Like they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing when making decisions. But what do they say when more knowledge adds to th3e confusion?

the desciption in the little [?] thing to the right is incorrect, something that hasnt changed for a long time, on most entries *sneer at dso*
![]() best to call and go over each optical w/ a dso tech and to pick only sata drives, imo
