I've heard several reports that stage three fans are quite loud.
Can anyone relate the noise level to something other than decibels? (hair dryer, vacuum, pin drops etc) That seems like it would bug me. Is case sound insulation cheap? easy? effective? or expensive, difficult and lame? Finally, if money is taken out of the equation and I'm only OC'ing the CPU, is cpu liquid effective? and at that what case fans are also included? gracias! |

I did try to make a video of this, but then i realized itd be realitive by how high the person put the volume on their speakers..haha... It isnt too loud, its louder then my last computer, and loud enough that you know its there, but after a while you just drown it out.

nick do you have a pic of your comp or review link?
I think our rigs might look alike ALSO! does anyone know what sort/# of fans come with CPU only liquid? And finally, is there a better case for that (crosses fingers....antec, antec, antec) or a better MOBO (crosses fingers again...asus,asus,asus) Edited by ArmourBrad - 08 Jul 2008 at 9:35pm |

the level of noise from stage 3 is going to be relative to the person, my cousin got his comp 850i stage3 and he says its quieter than his old system
and as far as temps, im over 40% oc'd with stage 2 cooling(and some personal modifications that make it close to stage 3) running below stock suggested temps, as i said in my config guide, unless you need a very quiet system, or have money to burn, liquid is not needed. imo.

Personally, liquid just scares me... I don't know much about it, but I have built computers in the past and done tons of mods (pulling apart a case doesnt worry me). Saying that, pulling apart a case filled with lines of coolant or changing that fluid freaks me out.
ArmourBrad... A better case than? and a better MoBo than? |

better case (one vs. the other...namely the antec or the 850)
mobos: asus vs. nvidia
just a question if certain cases or components are better than others for liquid.
I'm looking for a zero maintenance machine: I can change pci express stuff thats easy (ram, wireless cards, etc), but heavy duty is out of my comfort zone. Does the liquid need to be changed? often?
Also hopefully my rig will not to heat my apartment to a billion degrees while quietness would be greatly appreciated by my fiance` and guests as they would be watching TV in the same room. (I'm fresh out of college, my mega super custom basement gaming lair is on the way).
So the quietness and heat aspect are important, and no hassle (don't fry my oc'd cpu). And I'm no Donny Trump but I do make the big bucks, so the frills aren't the biggest issue. (still on a budget!)
I understand stage 3 can handle everything but running hot exhaust and a loud machine...ouchies. (of course if it's "not that bad", i'm not sold on liquid totally).
also, does anyone know how many or which fans come with the liquid setup? Or if it depends on the case, which would be the better choice.
basically...Build my computer!!!
thanks!

I guess ArmourBrad didnt watch the vid so I'll type it.
Bettercase: Antec (Much more room) Mobos: If your gonna do SLI get nVidea Liquid only changed when it gets low or maybe twice or once a year. When you hear bubbles, thats when to change it. My friend had a liquid cooling rig and been over 7 months and no change so far. My CPU is OC'd from 2.66GHz to 3.60GHz quad core and still maange 30c temperature on liquid cooling!!! Stage 3 = Loud. End of story. If you OC with Stage 3 you can only get so little and may come with computer parts. And dude c'mon, liquid cooling looks so tight, not many people know how to put water in there system if you kno what I mean =P |

oh, armour brad watched your video (and starred it). It's really sweet.
of course, (and i've only watched it once) I think you called your case a cool master. But i've been looking at the antec 900 fo sho.
Nick, from your antec liquid expertise...
what fans came with your cooling stuff?
thanks.

Making a better video with all the specs and etc... in the computer and just conntected my 35 inch LCD to my comp and its not even hogging any CPU or anything...
My computer comes with 3 cases on the top, 1 on the left right ontop of video card, HardDriver Fan in the front, RAM Airfloor Fan, and a 790i onboard mini fan. Also going to add another fan on the bottom and got room for another fan in the front right tontop of the hard driver and also got 3 more slots for fans on the removeable fan slot on the top of the case but I might use that for a bigger radiator... Oh almost forgot! HAS A HUGE FAN ON THE LEFT CASE DOOR! BLOWS MY WHOLE MOBO AIR! Cosmos S edition is HUGE so A LOT of room....has almost EVERYWHERE has DUST VENTS! So no dust AT ALL! |
