 Over the past few weeks i been reading over the forums and im looking for alittle more advise. Im looking for a gaming rig between 1800-2400$. I play mmo's and fps. I run a 27 hd 1080p monitor off hdmi cable. I have a dell xps 630i and have been having so many problems with it im probably gonna beat the dell guy over the head with it when he comes tomorrow. The pc is used mostly for gaming but also web surfing and email.

My questions are:

1. I7 950 or the 2600 im more of a part replacer so the tech aspects elude me.

2. To sli or not to sli. i see people speak of bugs when i google sli bugs i dont find any resent post on them. Will i see more fps on a sli on set up or is it not worth it. i would like to run my games on max settings and not have to worry bout lag.

3. the ssd i understand that yes windows can boot up in 5 secs and yea that may be nice but is it really worth it and on hd's should i just stick with a 500g which i have now and is now here no full or go with a 1tb. i did read some where that using a 1tb as main drive had some problems with it but not sure if its true or not.

1. 2600k is the new cpu and clock per clock has better performance then past cpus, (950).

2. This all depends on the game and your idea of max settings, if you mean game settings on max that is different then high aa and af. Best thing to do is get a system that can handle sli, but get one gpu, then after using it if you see you need more gpu power you can drop in one, if you see you don't, you just saved yourself $400. Adding gpu is very easy and takes 2 minutes for somebody that has never done it before.

3. SSDs are great, its not just boot time, most of the stuff you do on a pc on regular basis involves moving file sized of 4k, in this area ssd is king, regular HDD are not that great, so ssd helps boot up of window and apps yes, however they bring more then that to the table, like faster speeds on 4k files, transfering files, writing and reading speeds are much faster.

the only problem with ssd right now is their price, the price is a bit high for the performance. Now once again ssd is something we can add down the road ourselves, and its very easy to do also.

Hdd setup is best this way:

HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games

HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage

and remember, not all SSDs are the same, Intel is the one you want.

depending on what games you play, this will give you what you want, but it also has room to grow so you can add gpus and etc, feel free to remove the ssd and use the 1TB for HDD1 for now, then in a few months add a ssd and push the 1TB to HDD2 for storage.

There is nothing wrong with having a 1TB for HDD1 but it makes managing the os drive a pain, since it will take forever to scan, search and back up a huge drive.

To move all the stuff from the 1TB to the new SSD, just clone the 1TB to ssd, this moves everything over, os/apps/games and etc.

you can follow my clone guide here
