Logitech G700 Help?

   The 1800dpi resolution on my old model Deathadder became sort of an issue lately at higher sensitivities, mostly because it was just less precise for some reason. Swapped over to a G700 in preparation for Black Ops to try to resolve that. Unfortunately, my gaming rig's power supply died right in the nick of time, but anyways, hasn't stopped me from putting my G700 through its paces.

The sole issue I'm having with it is that I can't use the mouse in a wired only mode. As in, I can't use the mouse with the cable, only with either the receiver plugged in or the wire and receiver plugged in. For anyone that owns a G700 here, do you know if the mouse is supposed to work like this?
