Yes, the pictures of the cow and the whippet (google "bully whippet") are real, and yes, they're doing research on it. And yes, little Liam is real, as is his story. It is a real condition. Some people have it, though they don't grow to such ridiculous proportions (I believe a few professional bodybuilders do have the condition and others have very LOW myostatin levels).

I don't remember fully from when I read about it (and I didn't read the article), but myostatin is necessary to stop the growth of muscle. When myostatin is blocked, or when myostatin levels are very low, muscles just keep growing and growing and growing. What stops those people from being so big that they kill themselves is they don't/can't eat enough food to support all that weight. After all, no matter how much your body wants to add muscle, it can't do it if you don't feed it. So no, they won't "crush their bones" lol.

It's a real dog, it just has a a genetic defect that scientists want to duplicate.

I saw articles about the dog a year or so ago.  It's someone's pet.
