I'm looking for a monitor that does higher than 1920x1080 res. Most likely a 27". I don't wanna jump to 30 since I'm not looking to spend $1000+.

I have a 24" one at work and its a solid monitor . 1920x1200 display. Excellent refresh, clarity and color and the following ports
VGA, DVI, Display port, HDMI, Component, Audio out, USB, XD,SD.MS and MMC ports.

A 27" version would get you 2560x1440 with all the above
