I am looking for a new PC in the near future and am not sure what type of configuration would suit me the best.
Budget: $3,000 (hopefully less is spent if possible) Needs: Gaming PC obviously Loyalty: AMD or Intel --> It doesn't matter Games to be played: Day of Defeat: Source, COD4: MW 1 and 2, COD 5: WAW, BBC2, L4D2, and Bioshock 2 Monitor: 20.1 inch monitor at 1680x1050 resolution Preferred Case: HAF 932 (if possible) I am looking for liquid cooling for at least the CPU. The house I live in gets very dusty and the Antec 900 case I have now attracts it a lot. Routine maintenance is normal for a PC, but I am cleaning the dust out more often and it gets annoying after a while. Also, I could care less whether NVidia or ATI is selected in terms of a video card. It seems like ATI has the market right now for better video cards, but either way I don't care. I like the configuration you have come up with. The only changes I was thinking was making it a 1000 watt PSU and changing the GPU to the ATI Radeon 5870. This brings the total price to $2,657. Am I wasting my money by making these changes? I don't mind spending a little extra on the video card as it needs to be able to handle future games as well. Lastly, if I went with the PSU and GPU changes mentioned above will the temp's be reasonable with just CPU liquid cooling??
Keep in mind that I probably won't be purchasing this PC for at least three months so things might change before then. I need a little more money in my pocket before this purchase is made hence the three month wait. So, there is no hurry. |
