I was given this spec by a certain site
when I asked for a custom computer system made for pure gaming. I dont
really know anything about computers so I was hoping you guys could
help me break this down and tell me what you think
They recommended 1 x Intel 130W TDP Core i7-920 (2.66 GHz) Quad Core Retail - $388.00 1 x CPU Retail Cooler - $0.00 1 x ASUS P6T Intel X58 ATX - $368.00 1 x OCZ DDR3-1333 Intel Core i7 Edition 6 GB Kit CL7 - $180.00 1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB 7,200 RPM 16 MB Cache - $88.00 1 x Samsung DRW-SH223Q Lightscribe S-ATA 22X DVD+\-RW drive OEM - $75.00 1 x ZOTAC GeForce GTX 260 AMP2 896 MB PCI-E 2.0 - $318.00 1 x Antec 300 Black Quiet ATX-Tower - $158.00 1 x Silverstone Element ST85EF 850W 82%-85% Efficiency Power Supply - $195.00 1 x Microsoft Windows XP Professional (64-bit) OEM - $198.00 1 x Mozilla Firefox Browser and Thunderbird Email (Free With Any OS) - $0.00 1 x 1 Year Parts and Labor Standard Warranty Included Free - $0.00 1 x Full System Build (Single CPU System) - $350.00 Subtotal Price (Excludes Discounts, Taxes or Shipping) - $2,318.00 This is also what they had to say The P6T mainboard has one GB LAN ports and onboard 8-Channel HD Audio. Other standard features such as USB and Firewire ports are included also. We went with the GTX 260 for its performance and price and game compatibility. It is SLI capable, so you if want to upgrade later on, you can purchase a second card and insert it to the other unused PCI-E x16 slot. To offer you some idea how this system can perform, the GTX 260 card generates around 80 FPS at 1920 x1200 with 4x Anti-Aliasing in Call of Duty with a 2.4GHz Core2Duo E6600 CPU. The CPU we are suggesting is Core i7 920 at 2.66GHz Quad-Core; we are using the i7 to give you better upgradability for the future. And with faster clock speed for the i7 920, you will get better performance than 80FPS from in the same title.

Thanks for the advice guys, and I'll post that up there instead (now that I know). So that's your recommendation then? Whats the main benefits of it and would it fit into a 1000-2500 budget?

Full warranty means what? even if he has life time warranty on everything, which I doubt still he has to deal with bunch of different companies, no support.
You don't now what ram you put in his pc? |
