Hey all this is my first time ever buying a computer that is not from dell so I am unsure on what to pick. I am looking for a rig that is dedicated mostly to gaming (though I will be putting Microsoft Word on there for papers and such.) I was wondering if anyone could help me configure a rig with a budget of 2700$. The one thing I do know is that I am looking to Crossfire to Radeon 4870s.

SkyR gave you a great setup.
 
Changes to it I would make:
Take the 64 Bit version of Vista instead of the 32 bit version.
Change the DVD reader to a lightscribe DVD writer.
