Hello again DS Forum goers :)
So my DS system just shipped out yesterday, and should be arriving to me this coming Thursday (May the 7th) and I'm very excited about that. The current quest I've bestowed upon myself is that for the perfect gaming monitor. I've looked around at a few and of course I came across ones like the ROG Swift and a few other Asus, Acer and BenQ monitors, and I'm having a hard time being decisive about one. So I'd like to ask this fine community what their opinions are or what you guys use / have used that you really enjoy. If it helps at all in giving me a recommendation or suggestion, the main game genres I play are RPG's and MMO's. However I do play the occasional FPS (I plan on buying Far Cry 4 the minute I set up my new computer) and I'll also be buying GTA V as well. ---------------------------- **IN ADDITION** ---------------------------- The monitor I'm using now is a ASUS VS Series VS247H-P I have a question about using 2 monitors. I would like my new monitor that I buy (whatever it may end up being) to be my main monitor. The one I game on 100% of the time, and I don't plan on playing games in split screen mode. What I want to do is use my new main monitor for gaming, and use a second monitor for everything else (i.e. looking things up online, chatting thru facebook, changing music, watching movies etc while gaming on the main monitor. MY QUESTION(S) BEING: If I do this, do the two monitors I use have to be the same monitor? If the answer is no, then if I use my current monitor (listed above), will I be able to run each at a different resolution etc while doing dual monitors? For example, my new monitor may have a much higher resolution, better response time, better refresh rate, bigger screen size, different display ports etc that I want to play games at, but my old monitor has a set 1920x1080 resolution, 2ms etc. So would it be stuck at the lower specs of the two or can I have each be their own separate "entities" so to speak connected to the same computer? Thanks in advance to any and all help I may receive here :) |

Your two monitors for different tasks can be completely different. Resolution, refresh, etc don't have to match.
I don't spend much time checking out monitors, way to many, so maybe others can give their recommendations. Good luck.

While others can speak directly to the specifics, I can echo what bpratt has posted. Even my Vanquish 2 runs 2 completely different monitors with no muss and no fuss on the GTX770.
I would think that if you're going to run the both monitors for one application you'd want matching monitors... but just to have 2 open, one to play and one to surf, it shouldn't matter. My 2¢...

Cool, I thank you both for your replies. It was very helpful information and I'm glad I can do what I wanted to regarding 2 different monitors :)
And regarding the comment about too many monitors out there, you're not kidding lol. I've been doing research on each monitor for days comparing them, reading reviews, trying to justifying the price tags etc lol |

Probably the best advice I ever got on monitors was this: Go to a computer store or store like best buy that has several models on display, Look for color, clarity, speed (<5MS display time, 1-3 is best) and refresh times. Match TN, IPS and if available Gsync. Pick the two you like best and check them out on line for both personal and professional reviews and check the manufacturer sites for specific specs on them. Some people just go for that one that costs a fortune but the one that costs a little can be just as good in real world scenario. (ROG, BenQ, etc vs AOC as an example.) http://us.aoc.com/ http://us.aoc.com/monitor_displays/g2770pqu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160227 http://www.techpowerup.com/209941/aoc-unveils-the-q2778vqe-27-inch-wqhd-monitor.html ...(personal recommendation - sweet gaming monitor) |
