Hello,
I'm looking to buy a new desktop sometime soon. I haven't keep up with the new stuff lately, so I'm looking for some advice for my new desktop.
the PC will be mainly use for Gaming and Movie. I also have a really BAD habit of open multiple games or you tube video at the same time. T_T  so i might consider getting 64gb RAM instead of 32, but I think that would be a bit overkill lol.

Thank you so much guys,

Here is a config that I have so far,

Configuration Code: 3581040
Direct Load URL: https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=3581040

I'm a bit worry about PSU, do i need to get a bigger one?

Also, I heard that Intel PCIe 4 CPUs won't be available until mid-2021.
is it worth to go with this setup or wait for PCIe 4 next year?
I'm not really familiar with AMD CPU or GPU, so I'm not really sure if I want to go with current config, wait for Intel PCIe 4, or go with ADM setup.     .

Thank you so much for the help,
--Rem

**The desktop will me in my bedroom, so I hoping to get the setup that won't run too loud or too hot. (I can prolly get use to it, so it not really a concern . lol)

Naw, Man, that ain't no gaming rig. That gear is for number crunching and science stuff. It's like taking a Hummer to the track to go against the 'vettes and Chargers.

There's a lot of waiting going on here already, so if you want to wait 'til March or so, be my guest.

AMD is top dog now because of 7 nanometer lithography on their CPU chips, and all PCIe 4th generation parts. Intel doesn't do either yet.

Here's your new AMD system if you don't like waiting:

3581935        comes in at $3646 with discount and free shipping.

The CPU is overkill, but you seem to like that and this proc is in stock as of yesterday. I don't think you need more than 32 GB of RAM to multi-task a couple of games. You could get the Corsair Vengeance for a cheap "upgrade" to RGB, but the DS is fine.

The Samsung 980 PRO is top dog. You don't want 2 NVMe SSDs because they tend to steal bandwidth from each other under certain conditions. Your games will load just fine from a SATA SSD.

The GPU is a neck and neck matchup with a 3080. It has some special benefits when paired with a 5000 series AMD proc. I think it's easier to get than a 3080, but you might ask.

I threw in the purty fans just for fun.

What d' ya think?

heh I usually like to go a bit over on the CPU and Mother Board side since I don't want to worry about upgrade them later on. Chilling

the config look really awesome, Thank you so much for the help.Awesome
I got a few more question if that alright with you (Thanks man.)

Is there any major different between Velox and Lumos Chassis and is the
Corsair Chassis Fans has better airflow better than the factory one? (I think you throw that one in for fun, I'm a bit curious.Wink)

I also thinking of getting a monitor, is ASUS 27inch VG27AQ good?

ASUS 27 inch VG27AQ (G-SYNC) (2K Resolution) (165Hz Refresh) (1ms Response) (2560x1440) (HDR10)

Thank you so much for the helpAwesome

The major differences between cases are: the Velox has the main window on the right side, so if your rig is on your left, you won't see the parts. That orientation requires the mobo to be installed upside down so the GPU with it's usually prominent name is also upside down. Personally, not for me. The airflow in both cases is very good.

If you don't want to pay for the Corsairs it won't matter very much at all. Yeah, I think prolly you get a little more than purty lites for $279, but the airflow is so good in the cases, it won't make enough difference to justify the price. It's mostly for show IMO. You can download iCue software from Corsair to control both speed and colors, tho.

I usually don't say much about monitors. It's a personal choice. Used to be fewer choices, but now, there are so many good ones, it's hard to screw up. That one ticks all the right boxes: IPS, high frame rate, G-Sync compatible, etc. If you go Radeon GPU, used to be you could save a bit by getting Freesync. Maybe see if ASUS has one of those with all the same specs and compare if you're gonna get the 6800XT.

I see Thank you so much,

yea, I was a bit surprise about the fan, I remember that there was more upgrade option for the fan. (last time I brought a desktop was around 4 years ago ;D)
From the sound of it, Lumos seem to already have a good airflow, so I think I'm going to stick on factory fan for this one.

I see Thanks for letting me know about FreeSync Awesome, I will check ADM website for the monitor that support FreeSync.

Thank you so much for the help,

Sorry one more question ><
if I want to upgrade my main SSD into 2TB one, the the 1TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe would be a good one to go for correct? Big%20Smile
Unfortunately, I couldn't find 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe.Sad

I'm thinking about reusing my old SSD instead of buying new 2ndary SSD

Thank you so much for the help,

Those are PCIe generation 3 parts. the Firecudas and the Samsung 980 are PCIe gen 4. I don't recommend a large primary drive because gamers don't need a large amount of extremely fast storage, so it's a waste of $$. Just enough for everything Windows does. if you "must" have a giant primary drive, get a Firecuda Gen 4, and immediately create about a 200 GB C: drive for Win and your maintenance software and browser. Easy to scan easy to clone, easy to re-create if Win has to be newly installed.

So this is the configuration that i will prolly go with,

3582770

Pretty much what you have suggested, minus the fan Chilling and some change on the SSD (I'm going with 1TB 980 PRO and skipping 2ndary SSD for now.)

Now I just need to look for some monitor later today after some Turkey DroolingExcited

Thanks again for all the Helps and Happy Thank Giving,
Rem

Thank you for the kind words. It would be good to isolate Windows, browser and maintenance software like Malwarebytes, etc. on a smallish partition on that large drive so you boot, scan, and clone the whole C: drive in minimal time. The less time it takes, the more scanning you do, and that's a good thing.

Sound good thank you so much.
I prolly going to partition them into 150Gb for C; and the lest for other apps.

I'm going to look into a bit more on the FreeSync monitor before i place the order.
they seem to cause quire a bit of Ghosting from what i read.

Thank again for the help ^^"

Ghosting on any monitor is only a problem with an under-powered GPU on a high fps monitor. It is not any concern with a 3080 or 6800 XT.
