Hello all,

I am currently looking to buy a new gaming desktop and have some questions I hope some of you could answer.  Ill be the first to admit I do not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to the lingo, but I dont have a general sense of what is good and what is not.  I've been playing MMORPG's (mainly WoW) for about a year now on my laptop and its just gotten to the point where the lag is so bad that it's taking away from the content.  Given the fact that I am in law school, Im looking for a low priced solution that will let me play these games without interruption.  Im not looking for hardcore gaming options, just enough to let me play freely.  Here's a rough sketch of what I was looking at.  Due to the fact I'm in law school at the moment, my budget is a bit low:

Case: Digital Storm Twister VALUE (Black Edition)
Power Supply: 500W Thermaltake (Silent PurePower Edition)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz (1333MHz Front Side Bus) (4MB Cache)
Motherboard: nVidia 650i Core 2 Quad (By: eVGA) (nForce 650i Ultra)
Memory: 2GB DDR2 Corsair at 1066MHz Dominator (Dual Channel) (Extreme-Performance)
Floppy / Media: - No Thanks
Hard Drive 1: 160GB (Western Digital / Seagate) (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA)
Hard Drive 2: - No Thanks
Raid Option: - No Thanks
Optical Drive 1: DVD-ROM/CD-ROM (DVD Reader 16x / CD Reader 40x)
Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks
Network Card: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections)
Modem: - No Thanks
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB (Promotional Price) (While Supplies Last)
TV Tuner: - No Thanks
Sound Card: Motherboard Multi-Channel High Definition Audio (7.1 Channel)
Physics Card: - No Thanks
Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 1 (Certified Digital Storm Heat-sink)
Case Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Blue Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes)
Round Cables: - No Thanks
User Manual: Personalized Platinum Digital Storm Binder (Includes Paperwork/Benchmarks/CDs/Manuals)
Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic
Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based)

Get rid of the case lighting and get 2GB 667mhz or 800mhz ram instead of 1066mhz. There really isn't a performance difference you will notice.

I do recommend Vista Premium as it has a good amount of features for that $33 extra.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

For $15 more you can have a bit better graphics performance and support for DX10:

Maybe skyR will have a better suggestion than this config on where to allocate that budget. I'd certainly defer to his knowledge of the components.

Both are great ideas, GeauxSaints, it's really on your tastes.

Going with a either a 8 series or a 7 series is good. A 7 series will give you great Direct X 9 power, and hey, it's on sale. A 8 series supports Direct X 10, but, it isn't as fast.

As Sky said, drop the 1066MHz ram for your budget, and put that money towards a better video card if possible.
