Congratulations on your system. Adding a gpu will take your pc to the next level in performance. I am not he one to advise you on which one will work best since I tend to go overboard but I would suggest to wait until Fall for the new cards to come out. They are reported to be way better than the actual ones (which are getting long on the tooth) with less power use.

Well, at least you have a GPU! IDK if you want to wait. They will come out with an RTX 3060 (if they call it that), and it will be a lot better than a 2060 SUPER, but it will still cost over $400. IMHO, you don't need all that for your monitor (which is very nice, BTW, hope you like it).
The 1660 SUPER and the 1660 Ti are almost identical in performance, but you might be able to find the SUPER at a bit lower price. Best buy has one from MSI at $265. The next step up would be a 2060 NON super. Best Buy has one from EVGA at $310. TBH, if budget allows, I'd pick that one. The difference between them on your monitor is about 100 fps vs 120fps on Ultra. For $45? I'd go for it. The 2060 SUPER might be had a bit over $400 ($450 at BB), but I don't think it's worth over $100 more for ~12 fps when you're already up at 120. I found this You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXklChm1f_k I can't see the difference between 100 and 120 fps, so.... (Interestingly, the 1660 Ti edges out my 1070 from 2018, that has been delighting me for 2 years on my 1080p monitor.) The Best Buy deals on those two cards are really good. Solid brands. If you want to look elsewhere, you have to be REALLY careful, because there are 1660s, 1660 SUPERS and 1660 Tis, and prices are all over the map. Somehow some of the 1660 Tis are over $400! Then there are 2060s and 2060 SUPERs, and their prices can be nutty. Hope it helps. |

That does help. A lot. Thank you very much. If I do get the 2060 NON super, it'd be pretty much plug and play, right? I wouldn't have to go and upgrade anything else to be able to run it (except for the driver, of course)? Like I said, I know next to nothing when it comes to the actual process of making all this stuff work.
Edit: Been looking into that GPU and realized the one I have now doesn't seem to be plugged into my PSU. Seems the 1050 can be just powered by the motherboard. I'm not even sure where my PSU is. Sure it wouldn't be too hard to figure out. Edit #2: Bought the 2060 Super. Have a decent bit of knowledge about my PSU now. I guess this is where my adventure begins. Thanks for all the info. WOW, well get ready for a quantum leap in performance! Your power supply is that little box at the bottom of your case with cables coming out ;-D.
The GPU will be plug and play. Best practice is to unplug either at the wall or your power supply. Pressing the computer's power on button will discharge any capacitors that may retain a charge. Touch metal on the case to ground yourself, and carefully wiggle the 1050 out and replace it with the 2060. Be sure it's firmly seated. You may need two power cables to the new CPU. If you don't see two near the card, look around for the other cable perhaps bundled with some others nearby. You may need to clip a cable tie. If it gets too deep, DS Lifetime support is there during Pacific time business hours to help. |

GPU is installed and working fine. It's wonderful. I love it.
If anyone is still checking in on this, how hard would it be to upgrade my 8GB of system memory? |

Really easy. You could get two 8GB DIMMs. I would also stick with memory between 2666 and 3000 mHz. Here's a listing from PC Partpicker:
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/memory/?compatible_with=XMhj4D#S=2666,3200&sort=speed&Z=16384002 You couldn't go wrong with this set: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/J27CmG/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2a2666c16 Edited by GrandesBollas - 08 Jun 2020 at 2:15pm |

Your next upgrade should be your harddrive. Without doing research and just off the top of my head, a nice m.2 drive or an SSD for your primary drive will make a nice improvement and just assign your HDD to backup duties or for media/storage. I picked up a samsung SSD 860 500gb for 60 bucks when it was on sale around the holidays.

Thank you all for the much needed advice. You're slowly turning a computer-know-nothing into a computer-know-a-little-less-nothing.
