So recently we moved and my old, trusty gaming mouse was damaged and had to be replaced. I got a Razer Deathadder (I have few mouse button needs, but like to have a very responsive pointer).

About the same time, WoW got 5.0.4 dropped. Something between the two of them messed my mouse up and I no longer have a pointer in games. It's incredibly frustrating because I've had to change uncheck the "Hardware Cursor" option and it makes the pointer veeerrrryyy slow and unresponsive.

I've tried taking off my addons, deleting and reinstalling my mouse drivers and some combinations of the two.

If the driver were bad, I'd think re-installing it would fix it. If WoW were the problem I should have a cursor in other games, but I don't. Even old, low-tech games like Zoo Tycoon 2 have to be played in windowed mode or the cursor disappears.

Is this a Razer problem and I should look for a different mouse? Is there something else I should try?

Thanks,
-oak

Or...

Duh. At least for Wow I can play in Windowed (Fullscreen) mode.

Still need a fix for other games, though. But hey, my main vice works again!

Re install / Update the mouse's software? Not sure if the death adder has any, but if it does thats where i would start.

Do you have any other mouse available at your house or maybe borrow from a friend to see if the issue persists? If it does not, then I would say the culprit is your mouse. Troubleshooting is not always fun, but I try to go with the easiest least expensive routes first.

I have the DeathAdder 3500. I believe all the basic functions are supposed to work without any drivers on it. Hope you get it working-this sucker is fast.
