Hi,
I get a Code 28 (no drivers installed) on the PCI port and the PCI Simple Comm. Controller. I turned DEP for all programs and everything went downhill. The computer would not restart. Can anyone help?

When you say , no restart, do you mean no lights, fans, etc.  If so, unplug from AC outlet, hold in the power button for a minute or so and release.  While its off, remove both side covers and reseat all the connections to mobo, exp. the 24 pin and 6/8 pin next to the cpu.   Check the smaller plugs that go from the front panel, Power On ,Reset, HDD light, etc, to the mobo.  Check the plugs to the 980's.  Plug back into a wall outlet, not surge protector, etc, and make sure the psu's are toggled On.

In your other post you mentioned a ram stick loose and another sitting on the pump....sounds like the shipping was pretty rough.    If it still doesn't power up, remove the ram stick and try with just one at a time.  The ram can cause it to power on, fans, etc, but not POST and just roll over.

You also said you heard parts bouncing around... maybe just the ram stick, but look around for anything loose, like a screw, etc.

The PCI port poblem could be a missing or corrupt driver.   Going into Device manager and looking under System Device, sometimes Other, will show the devices not connected properly with a question mark, exclamation point....right click and select to update driver or uninstall and reboot to let the OS find a driver.  This is after you get the rig to power up.

A call to DS on Monday might be a good idea.

Good Luck.

Hi,

Got the computer running. I get a notice that I lost all OC. I am calling DS tomorrow since it may be something in the Intel management software and it's gone. The PCI and PCI Simple Communication Controller items under the Device Manager are now gone entirely from that list. The loose part was a ram stick and I got it seated and locked.  I think it is a software problem. The computer seems to be running fine now.

Thanks for the response.
