I love building my own rigs. The current GPU situation precludes that however.
I already wrote to DS and asked if I could have a specific RTX 3090 for my build and they said no. That surprises me because they were about to get about $7,000.00 from me. But onward and upward. I love the Lumos case, and I'm hoping you all can help me understand more about what I'm looking at. First of all, can anyone tell me more about that NVidia bracket that seems to be holding the GPU? Also, is everything encased in liquid cooling? Can I just buy the case itself and all the fixings, and then get my hardware and put it in?? |

The Lumos is a Corsair* 570X mid size case. You can buy the case and do your thing. Nothing special. In fact you can get almost everything you need from Corsair, including an open loop cooler. All you need is the mobo , cpu and gpu. The Aventum, Velox and Bolt are the only proprietary cases and you cannot get anywhere else since they are exclusive to DS.. *@Snaike: Is Corsair now a competitor since DS went private label and to be censored?

Thank you so much for the reply. Do you know what that SLI bracket is? |

AFAIK as of this moment the answer is "no" as they are a supplier... akin to censoring Nvidia, AMD, PNY, etc. I'm certain Alex will let me know if this changes. |

That's an NV Link bridge. It's now all but obsolete. In the 3000 series, it's only available for the 3090s, and SLI is not recommended. Some professional renderers may want/use dual RTX 3090s, but they perform better as separate cards for that use.
I can't vouch for anything in this discussion from personal experience, but it's what's being said these days about SLI. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/geforce-graphics-cards/5/294598/rtx-w-sli-is-a-scam/ |
