Topic: Lumos upgrade Posted: 12 Mar 2020 at 12:03pm |
I currently have a lumos system with a i7 9700k processor, msi 2070 graphics card and Corsair 750w ps. I am wanting to go to a i9 9900k with a evga 2080ti ftw3 graphics card. Will that graphics card fit and will I need a bigger power supply. Any help appreciated, thanks

You would need a new Motherboard.

I have a Lumos as well with an Asus 2070 Super. I have a reservoir sitting to the right of my graphics card. You will have to make sure you find a card that will fit. For example, FE may fit while a FTW may be too long.
Try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/9jr5r7/list_of_rtx_2080_ti_card_lengths/ You are going to run close on the 750W PSU if you overclock both the 9900K and 2080Ti. |

Thanks for the info, will over lock cpu but probably not the gpu. My concern is the width of the card, not the length. According to Corsair length should be ok, just worried about being able to put the glass back on the side

Cut a piece of cardboard to the same width an set inside on top of the card in there or where the card will go and check it that way. Tape can hold it.

Finally figured out how the dimensions worked, it’s the height of the card I was worried about, not the width. The ftw3 will fit no problem, thanks for the replies.

Are you aware the 9900K is only marginally better than the 9700k? Unless you have a SPECIAL need for the extra threads, there is practically no difference.
Look at this, and you'll see what I mean: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-9900K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-9700K/4028vs4030 1/2 of 1% average benchmark scores. |
