Good Afternoon Everyone,

I have a DS rig bought last year in the Lynx case. I did not get any case instructions in my documentation from DS. Like case details, instructions on how to assemble or dissemble and that kind of stuff. I assume this is because the Lynx is custom?

I need to open the system up and give it a good cleaning / dusting. Does anyone know how to take apart the Lynx? Get the front cover off to clean the fans really well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

So anyone who OWNS a lynx computer, have you broken down the case for a good dusting? Any tips on getting off the front cover and dusting out the top really well?

Any experience out there would be useful!

Sincerely,

KK

Hi KKrusher,

I am sure someone with a Lynx will chime in. I think the Lynx is based on a Corsair case but can't remember which. Maybe check the Corsair site. Good luck.

KKrusher, I'm not real thrilled you can't get a quick answer, but it seems we regular posters just don't have a Lynx case. AFIK, you should be able to take off the front and back side panels on just about any modern case. I see the clear front has two thumb screws to take off. Likely the back panel has something similar. Once they are off, it should be pretty apparent if/how the front and top can come off, or you can get access to the fans. That's the best I can do for you.

But here's the thing. I know it's not the cleanest way to address something so basic, but the Lifetime Support from DS is not hype, it's real. Just ask 'em, they'll help you. And gladly.

Hope it helps.

Thanks guys! I was planning on putting in a support request if I did not get anything here. Just thought I would check the community first.

Looking at the case... I know how to get inside via the side panel (had to do that immediately after receiving it do to a GPU and screw needing to be reseated). I can see some screws on the back that look promising. I am not seeing screws or tabs however for taking off the front...need to do more detailed digging with a flashlight for that.

I will check the Cosair website to see if there is something similar there...then off to DS support! Thanks again!

Sincerely,

KK

On my pc the front panel is pressed in. I found out by accident when I tried moving the system by holding the front corner and the whole front panel came off. The side panels are held with screws. On the Velox the panels are also pressed in.

Hey!

The side panels are screwed into the chassis. The front panel is popped into the chassis. You should be able to pop it right off if you stick your hand below the front panel.

The top is a simple magnetic mesh dust filter.

You cannot remove the power supply shroud, but you can remove the power supply by unscrewing the two thumb screws holding the power supply bracket onto the chassis.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the information, Alex. I actually cleaned out my computer right before I saw your e-mail. I went in through the side panel and cleaned it out quite easily. Top filter came off and cleaned easily. The mesh on the bottom intake for the PSU also cleaned off nicely. I did not pull off the front panel as I had not read your note (but I will try that soon). I have a small, made for electronics vacuum that I used to clean out the front fan area...went great!

All dust free now. I must say, I was very surprised at how little dust build up there was inside the case! I have not cleaned it out since I got it last May.

I will try removing the front panel soon. Thanks again for the guidance!

Sincerely,

KK

Quibble: That's not Alex this time, it's our new buddy Stellar! He's gonna help us with our technical questions from the standpoint of someone who really knows the equipment!

I'm very impressed with how clean your rig was. I'm happy for you.

Holy cow! I did not even notice is was Stellar who replied!!! Sorry about that, Stellar! No disrespect intended.

Compared to my old DS rig in the HAF case, my new rig in the Lynx was really not very dusty at all for going since last May without cleaning. The top and bottom filters and front had some build-up but not bad. The GPU fan had almost nothing. The exhaust fan in the back was the worst by far in terms of dust build-up...but still not as bad as my old rig.

I am happy I could get it apart, clean it out well, and get it all back together without issue!

Sincerely,

KK
