Topic: Lynx Level 3 vs Lumos level 1 Posted: 12 Oct 2019 at 5:46am |
So I am planning on spending around 1600 to 1700 dollars on some new gaming gear. So far, I have decided on this monitor(Sceptre E255B-1658A 24.5" 165Hz 144Hz 1ms Gaming LED Monitor 2X HDMI 2.0 1x DisplayPort, Metal Black 2019) and a net gear WiFi booster. I was wondering if I go for the lumos with maximum gaming ability, or the lynx, with less gaming ability(according to the bar system) but a better graphics card? Any thoughts on the best way to go? Thanks! -NewBuyer

The current DS Sale can help you reach for much better configurations. If you can stretch that budget just a wee bit to $1800 you could grab a very solid entry level custom built DS gaming system that could serve you far better for longer into the future. Using a top I7-9700K 8-Core processor with a free DS Stage 1 Overclock gets you very strong CPU performance! The NVidia RTX 2060 video card gets you all the latest NVidia RTX features including Ray Tracing in compatible game titles, and would allow you to upgrade to an even better resolution 2K monitor one day when you can afford to. You could also easily upgrade to a faster M.2 NVME SSD drive yourself, or easily add more RAM when you require it down the line. Here's what I would recommend: Lumos Build1 Config # 2624728 $2000 minus DS SALE $200 = $1,800 total plus Free Shipping I7-9700K 8-Core CPU Overclocked (Free) Stage 1 ASUS Prime Z390-P ATX Motherboard 16 GB DS RAM 500 GB DS SATA III M.2 SSD 2 TB SATA III HDD DS Stage 1 Vortex CPU cooler DS 600 watt PSU NVidia RTX 2060 6GB VRAM GPU Free DS RGB internal case lights w/ remote control See what you think.... Saving money and getting you a much stronger RTX 2070 SUPER GPU is the Lynx level 4 Ultimate at $1579.
The sacrifice is in the 9700F CPU, but that's not much of one IMO. That CPU doesn't overclock is all. It still turbos to 4.7 GHz whenever your usage requires some extra juice, and that is so much more performance than CPUs of just a generation ago, it's not worth the quibble. Since everything else is pretty much the same in each build, I'd think the very substantial improvement in graphics should help sway you. The Lynx does come with a bit of bling with the case fans as well, but there's no discount, and shipping might kick the cost up to as much as $1640-ish. It's an interesting choice, but the CPU will not gimp your gameplay. The RTX2060 is enough, but the 2070 is over 30% stronger. Just sayin'. |

Alright I have limited down to three choices. Lynx level 4, lumos level 1 or 2, and velox level 1. Which one should I go with. I feel like the lynx level 4 with the 24" curved screen Digital storm provides in their shop should be good enough.

Seems to me your choices now are down to personal preference and price. Overall, the Lynx so-called pre-built is the best bang for buck, and comes with RGB fans, but is that the case you want? Good luck.
