I bought my PC January 2010

What maintenance should I be doing on my hardware and software to keep my PC running at its best? Over time I do notice it slows down or lags/takes longer to open applications or load games than it used to.

I bought my PC January 2010 I do regular disk defrag, windows updates, and McAfee virus scans. Basic stuff; I have EVGA Precision notify me about an update every once in a while but I don't do it because im kind of cautious about my processor and graphic card over clock since I know nothing about it. Is their any other software maintenance I should be doing?

Also hardware wise the only thing I’ve done is dust out the case.

yea, carefully and thoroughly air dusting the case is the only hardware upkeep

as far as software, after long enough your windows will start to get clogged up some, you can remedy this with reformatting or a registry cleaner like ccleaner.

i reformat about once every 10 months becuase it gives a noticible speed boost to the system and its a good idea to just start fresh if you keep everything clean and youre still getting slower
