I am proud to announce that Maximum PC Magazine has reviewed the Benchmark Crusher and awarded it a 9/10 in the latest "November" issue of Maximum PC magazine.
Update, the new price for the same unit is now $8,197.00USD.

Ofcourse the QX9770
OK something I don't understand, noisy? why? its got liquid cooling. expensive? compared to what? I dare them to go find another builder with the same exact specs for a better price. Edited by DST4ME - 18 Sep 2008 at 6:27pm |

Some people don't know the extra luxury they get with us.
It was noisy due to the PC Power & Cooling unit. If it was a different power supply, it would of been quiet.
Other than that, Digital Storm FTW

you mean like the 850w?
in that case it should be a 9.5/10, cause the expensive remark is BS, and misleading, now everybody reading that article will think DS is pricey like fnw, which is far from truth. |

White outside, black inside? Wah? I thought it was the opposite, Black outside, white inside lol.
Well whichever the case, nice dudes! Though agreed. Expensive is utter baloney. What does fnw stand for? Edit: And no DST4ME you need 1000W to feed 3 GTX 280s lol (though I do believe 1200W is for safe measures). Once you hit the 1000W mark, supposedly the PSUs become the noisiest thing on the computer. Besides while it's nice to see a 9/10 on a MAGAZINE ARTICLE, never trust them personally, the reviews you find on the net are far more satisfying supposedly lol. Alex said a different PSU would make less noise and I know the 1000w starts to get loud but I'm wondering which PSU Alex meant then? I agree with you about believing articles, all these reviews on sites and magazine are mainly full of crap. If you really want to know something you need to research it your self |

Their stock has gone to sheet and now the mobo on a 9000$ PC up for a review.
Id wager a box like this would cost 14000$ from NWF. How would they call it?
[edit] Looks like ive jumped the gun, but NWFs system of same specs w/o OC costs about the same $. I would go as far as to say its competitive. Edited by Nomak - 19 Sep 2008 at 10:31am |

what wasnt mentioned is that the rig only marginally out performed a cyberpower rig they had already reviewed..for a lot less money....so i think their expensive..statement is correct...more than i would ever spend on any rig from anyone...

$9,255 is pricey, by definition. I'm not sure they were suggesting that DS is generally pricey.

When the cons says pricey then it suggest that the downfall to the DS system is price, regular readers will see it like that.
the price is high because of lot of BS things, eg., why did the system need a bluray? thats a personal and expensive choice more then 90% of these reviews are BS when you look at it in detail You will find very few good quality reviews that are worth the paper/page they were printed/posted on |

Here's the other thing: If it didn't have Blu-Ray, they would of said, a $9,000 system without Blu-Ray? Etc...

I would also like to add to what DST4ME said, that this review is pretty crappy. With a 3-SLi setup how come they didnt take their time to measure case temps + CPU/GPU temps, since rig being reviewed only had liquid cooling for CPU. Who cares about benchmarks if that rig might overheat like a frying pan. Which also brings me to a question why didnt DSO include liquid cooling for 3 gpus for such an expensive system - trying to keep the price down or 950si has enough vents in it to keep 3 280 nvids cool enough under full load?
Not to play with fire but: "$$8,197 system without GPU liquid cooling?" (updated price)
I really want to find a review w/ case temps/gpu temps for 3-SLi setups w/ nvids latest n greatest cards w/ stock fans. If anyone knows of one please tell me. |

people will always shop with their wallets..doesnt matter what they get....someone sees paying one company 9k for a system that is only slightly better performance wise..than another company offering close to the same for 5k...i dont care who you are...a 4k savings..rings your cashregister...it does make dso look way overpriced...

Working for a shipping company im sure you had a fair share of pleasure dealing with em calling you: "Wheres my package?!" "Is it okay?!" "Have you lost my package?!"
But you can always play with them.. : "Your package is too small for me to be able to actually find it." ... and im sure many ther are other twists to it. Have you tried some of em? Edited by Nomak - 20 Sep 2008 at 12:07pm |

Well, we could of course configured the system without the two paint jobs (interior and exterior) and without the massive hard drive setup, or our FrostBite liquid cooling package.
That alone with other nice additions we had would of brought the price of the unit lower. Of course, not the same as CyberPower, since, the price difference obviously covers extra testing, quality assurance, and resources to ensure we have excellent customer service.
Cheers,
Alex

I can't say I think a test run in two games is all that conclusive in terms of testing the performance of those two systems. As HDR lighting becomes more commonplace in titles, and the level of graphics becomes more demanding, the increased memory bandwidth of the GTX280 setup is going to make itself felt. I believe strongly that in a year, there will be no doubt in anyone's mind which setup is a better performer. I will not cast aspersions on Maximum PC, only say that the review could have and perhaps should have taken the time to explain the differences in the technology in both systems so that the difference in price between the two systems might be better understood by readers looking to them for an expert analysis. Yeah....what Tyler said.... I have no problem casting asperations though, I carry a machine gun everywhere. So, I think it was both irresponsible and damaging that MPC did not go into detail about the cons stated on the review. I do think that getting a 9/10 is fantastic, but like mentioned earlier, if I was reading it, and saw 9/10 but a 8/9k price tag, I would smile, sigh and turn the page. I am a proud American Consumer who shops with his wallet. Mainly because I dont carry a purse. Unless you consider a 200 round bucket of ammo a purse.....if you do then it is the most manly purse EVER....
Sorry about going off topic, and in conclusion, Gratz DSO on the great review, and I am sorry the magazine didn't claify quite as well as could have been. Still, a 9/10 should bring people to the website right? Matt PS FNW means Falcon North West, another boutique computer company that is incredibly expensive.
