I know the big difference from the two MB's 780i "vs" 680i
that the nVidia 780i is able to support the new Cpu's coming out,...
I did a side by side comparison and thats the big thing besides nVidia's ESA and a couple other small details..
I also saw a forum and a computor website where a review was done about the 780i board, and overall it was given high praise's,, it was well noted that the reviewers where not as happy with the overclocking on the nvidia 780i when compared to the nVidia 680i..
they seemed to point to the BIOS for the overclocking essentials and they noted that the 680i was better in that area,,
So then my first question is this,, is the 680i MB better than the new 780i because of the lack of overclocking for the 780i,,, or has that issues been resolved,,, and if not,, is that a issue that could be resovled with new BIOS upgrades when and if aval ? and on that note,, are both boards using same BIOS vendor ?
Im trying to decide if the new 780i is worth the money just so can upgrade the Cpu later, but kinda worthless in means of getting good results when trying to overclock.. thanks in advance for response!!

the 780i and 680i should have the same overclocking capabilities.
and what is good results for you... reviewers tend to raise the FSB to 500+ ... |

Interesting about the 780i. One thing they (reviews etc) seem to say is its ability for PCI 2.0.
This brings up a question about the video cards. the 8800 ULTRA does not support 2.0 but the 8800GT/GTS does. Have you seen any benchmarks concerning this?

You can check out Tom's Hardware. They did a story on this maybe a week ago. There really isn't much difference between 1.1 and 2.0 in terms of performance on today's cards. I'm beginning to think by the time it matters, PCI-e 3.0 will be out.
