Have tried to find out while looking at some of the different configs of DS prebuilts, how the memory is installed i.e. if the config has 16gb, does that mean its a single stick or 2x8gb sticks, etc.

Thanks

You'll need to ask DS directly or a recent customer for absolute verification.

Nonetheless, using a single stick is extremely uncommon. As wasteful as it might be when upgrading, memory is typically installed in pairs to utilize dual-channel access.

Workstation-class CPUs (e.g. Threadripper, Core-X) and motherboards normally feature quad-channel. Therefore, best performance occurs when at least four matching sticks are installed at a time.

Yes, uncommon but not unheard of, and thats why I ask. I would like to assume DS would not use single stick but having looked at other prebuilts, thats info thats not always given and having heard on other forums about other prebuilts, it can be a crap shoot. Some do come with a single stick while other do use at least 2 sticks.

It's not a deal breaker, I am still thinking of buying here but wanted to know if I would need to figure in a second stick into my budget.

I was going to ask DS themselves thru the chat feature but was not getting a response so I came here. Thanks for the response and hopefully someone else can address this here or I will get with DS asap

Thanks again!

Welcome to DS.

You can request on the comments section that you want more than 1 RAM stick if that was what was going in the system or on the phone call if you order or ask by phone. Here we are just users. Every once in a while we get a visit from a DS team member but not regularly.
Enjoy.
