I am sure it has already been asked but maybe not. What's the diff really in going with a mobo that can handle tri memory vs one that handles dual? I only ask cuz I notice on some of the "ultimate builds" the board is X58 and supports the tri memory. What if any r the gains with the mobo and memory? Also the 980 i7 vs 2600k? Seems the 2600k is a preferred choice. If your not doing crazy multi tasking then no need for it?
Lastly - is the 500gb WD black edition a decent way to go if you werent going ssd as hdd1? I only have 140gb used on this machine is why I ask. I dont think I have had more then 3 games at any given time installed on here.
These r by far the best active/help forums I have come across. Your feed back is appreciated! Ghost.

the x58 is old platform, the p67/68 and 2600k are new platform, new platform = new technology = better performance.
the difference in ram channel and ram speed in gaming is nothing to worry about as its nothing that will be noticed either way. no hdd is any where near close to ssd performance. remember hdds setup is suppose to be like this: HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage the ssd is used for hdd one cause it has the best speeds that those things can benefit from and it brings balance to the overall performance of the pc, if its not in the budget then its something that should be added within the next few months. What is the native resolution of the monitor you gonna be gaming at? what is the budget and games you play? if we have not helped you let us know that info and we will help you, if we are helping you with a config already, please post rest of your questions in the same thread. |
