Alright guys, as you can see by my sig i got myself some new ram this week.
Ive ran memtest 3 times on it since putting it in. 2 of the tests returned errors. The last one didnt. And ive played around 4-5 hours of gaming without any hitches...
Should i still be concerned? As i read in the memtest manual that ANY error is a sign of serious problems...though im not sure if they are just saying this to hype up their product or not....
I only have 9 more days for a full refund if the memory is indeed bad.

That's interesting...
I would say, if you aren't having gaming issues, enjoy it. If it is bad, you can at least get a replacement.
I seen it when systems pass a test, but fail in real-time gaming. And honestly, are you using this computer to pass tests or play games?
But anyways, you should have warranty on the ram even if it is bad in order to get a replacement.
P.S.
Did you buy it from us?
Warm Regards,

I'm with Alex on this subject all the way, if you are not having problem during your usage, forget the tests.
play games on it for 4 to 5 more days, really put it thru the test with games, and if its fine after all that, its good for you. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Nov 2008 at 7:42pm |

Yea, Im just not sure if a memory problem would appear right away in a game or not. 4-5 hours of gameplay doesnt seem too long to get a really clear view if its a problem.
Alex, i didnt buy this ram from DS. Your upgrade center didnt offer the reaper version that i saw. I also wanted 2x2GB sticks. As an added bonus for me Newegg generally ships out of Memphis, TN, Since i live in Arkansas, it means even if i select the slowest shipping speed it still arrives the very next day after I buy it.

If it were me I would RMA it. Memtest didn't come up with the errors from nowhere and its pretty much the gold standard of memory tests.
Its a super easy swap and Newegg has great service, so its pretty painless to do the RMA.
Why risk problems down the road?
Just my 2 pennies.

What is strange is so far i havent had any BSOD or errors or anything. And i just played fallout 3 for like 4 hours..so ive had about 8 hours game time and probably add in 2 hours of internet surfing and just having the computer on in the past 2 days...and i havent ran into any issues at all...i ran memtest again, and it didnt find anything. So out of 4 runs its found errors 50% of the time..
Is this even possible? I read in their manual that sometimes false errors can be reported due to overheating, the ram does run at like 2.0Vs which is pretty high for DDR3 if you ask me. My last ram worked at 1.7V, but the manufa specs say 1.9 to 2V

There is nothing wrong with them, the memtest is not a 100%
the fact that you have 50% ratio, is obvious fact that the test is not right everytime. Edited by DST4ME - 12 Nov 2008 at 6:16pm |

Sometimes the ram is good enough to do what you bought it for, but just can't handle the stress tests.

You might try upping the DRAM voltage by .05 and running the test again. If the errors don't appear this time, then you're good to go. If they do I would recommend RMAing the RAM through NewEgg.
