Mid-level Gaming Rig

Long time lurker, first time poster. It's time to upgrade my gaming rig and a friend of mine referred me here.

Budget:
$2000-3000.

Usage:
Mostly gaming (Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, SWTOR) and some work (programming, emails, Photoshopping) on a single monitor at 1920x1200.

Special Needs:
Overclocking isn't a huge priority as I'm expecting that the Ivy Bridge and a new Nvidia card will be pretty potent. Also, I doubt that I can really tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps, but I would like to play games at their highest settings. I would also like the flexibility enough to throw in a second card at some point.

Noise is a big consideration. I initially wanted liquid cooling, but after reading some of these forums, the Noctua air cooler seems like it may be the quieter choice. Lastly, I don't like the looks of most of the cases besides the 600T.

I had (wrongly) assumed that higher wattage meant more power consumption, but after reading about it a little more, it seems that power supplies only consume the power that they need. From everything I've read, 850w is enough for IB and two 680s, but a 1050w would give more headroom as you say.

I saw you recommend the Phanteks in another thread. Is that the preferred air cooler over the Noctua? It definitely looks better.

Finally, regarding OC'ing, my assumption is higher clock equals more heat which means louder fans?

The main difference for me between the Phanteks and the D14 is their mounting connections. The Phanteks connections are not quite as robust as the D14.  So I give a slight edge to the D14.  As bprat22 said both are great coolers and you can't go wrong with either.
