I have been buying Dell desktops for several years now and it's time for an upgrade. My budget is $1400 and I'm just a casual gamer. I plan on using one monitor. I would like to play the Crysis games as well as Battlefield 3. Now for my choices. I've got it narrowed down to the DS Marauder Level 4 and a Dell XPS 8500 Special Edition with the following configuration...
Chassis: XPS 8500 White chassis w/19:1 media card reader Chip Set: Intel "Panther Point" H77 Processor: 3rd Generation Intel Quad core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge (up to 3.9 GHz) Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Memory: 12 GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz 4DIMMS Hard Drives: 2TB 7200RPM, SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s + 32GB SSD Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 Optical Drive: 16x CD/DVD burner Sound: Integrated 7.1 with WAVE MAXXAudio 4 Network card: 10/100/1000 Ethernet Ports: Rear-(2) USB 3.0, (4) USB 2.0, Audio jacks, VGA, HDMI Front- (2) USB 3.0, MCR Top- (2) USB 2.0, Microphone, Headphones Power Supply: 460W Dell Keyboard and Dell Laser Mouse This system is going to run $1399 with free S&H Which one should I go with? |

Dell makes nice monitors, but I don't know about their PCs. If you can swing for another 100 bucks, I would go for ODE lvl 1. Plus, it's build by the professionals at DS. Just my 2 cents.

Generally, the XPSs are fairly decent computers. However, I don't know if you have already included this, but a harware warranty, tech support, etc. with Dell can add on quite a few hundred dollars, and their tech support has nothing on DS, so I would go with the Marauder over the 8500.
Also, I definitely agree with Teemberland about the ODE level 1. If you could swing the extra money, that 670 is much better than the 7870. |

I do like to mention that with us, you're getting far more than just "specs" on a system. With us you are getting:
1. Direct and person technical support versus outsourced phone calls. 2. Assurance that your purchased is backed by a company that specializes in these types of products and is a smaller business so we take more care and attention to our customers versus big giant corporations. 3. Your Digital Storm system would be composed of all top brand components that can be easily upgraded from off the shelf hardware. 4. We stress-test and benchmark every system throughly. Overall, we have far more experience building high-performance PCs, you're going to get more for your money with us in terms of overall value than just specs.
