I just got my DS PC today, and when i booted it up and checked the properties the overclock was missing. It only showed 3.4Ghz not 3.9. I havent checked anything else but there, but i was wondering if someone new where i should start first?
Tech support is going to call me by the end of the day but i was wondering if the forums could help me out first ![]() Thanks in advance. |

get CPU-Z, windows will never report the actual clock of your processor.

And neither will just about any other program application either, you'll see your CPU's speed reported 20 different ways by 20 different apps. CPU-Z is the only one to ever get it right. |

Actually I saw it spike to 3.9 Ghz...does that mean my overclock is ok then? It was displayed as 3.4 Ghz inside CPU-Z thats why i thought it still wasnt there.
And how do you get pics to work when you post lol? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I was having a similar problem, but if you go to bios and go advance, you should see it there right above the ram. It won't show it on the first screen of the bios (it will only show stock). Yeah it should be fine, the way tech support told me is the processor will only use the over clock when needed.

Speed step and Turbo Boost both modulate your clock speeds by messing with your clock multipliers, right now you're seeing the effect of speed step. Speed step lowers down your multiplier below spec'd operating levels, thereby decreasing your total clock speed [base clock (constant) * multiplier = clock speed]. Turbo works the other way, if you ever wanted to know, by increasing the multiplier up one above spec'd levels.

thats speedstep, it keeps the clock low when no cpu power neeeded so that the cpu can rest, as soon as you need the power it puts the clock back at full oc, so that is why you see it rest at 3.4 but if you stress the cpu at all you will see it jump to 3.9. |

I know that one of the review sites did a review on a Digital Storm PC, and knocked Digital Storm for not using speedstep, seems like ever since then, they have been using is in most overclocks.. Too bad most reviewers have no idea what they are talking about, and use Dell's to write their review, and since you can write a crappy review using a Dell, then all other PC's must be just like them, and if they are not, it is WRONG!!
So, run it the way it is, or if you need help, kill speed step in the BIOS, and the C states, every last bit of performance/stability is the goal, not to be like Mike. Michael Dell that is.
