Hey Guys,

I am trying to build a comp that can handle full graphics on MMOs like Wow, AoC, and Warhammer Online (I cant wait!!). I am currently in Iraq, but will heading home soon, and would like to order a comp just before leaving here so it is waiting for me when I get back to the States. Now, I have been going through other peoples posts, and looked at the tips ya'll have given them. So, please, advice and critiques of this build would be awesome.

If you want to set up a raid0 system for your HD i'm pretty sure you must use the same size HD for all of them.
Would also be best to ask around to find out if MMO will actually benefit from a raid setup.
 
Using the air cool 3 with an overclocked cpu may not be enough. I'd have dso look at that for me.
 
Otherwise the build is more then enough for any of the current mmo and those likely to come anytime soon.

Thanks Val, I knew that about the Raid config I have no idea what I was thinking when I chose that, thanks for the heads up on that.

Now, as far as the cooling, I dont really know anything about that. I want to keep the price down as much as possible so, I was wondering is the overclocked processor worth doing or will this new rig http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=173088 work well enough to play MMOs. I am going to be playing AoC and Fallout 3 and thats pretty much it for a while. When WHO comes out I will be trying that as well.

Oh, I am getting the 2 hard drives bc I want the OS on one and my games on a second. I heard that the Raid Config was used to make the run concurrently with less hiccups. Plus the raid config is free. I dunno though, let me know if I am wrong, or if it is unnecessary. If I can grab a small hard drive for the OS and a larger for the games and not run them in raid sequence without problems it might be a few dollars cheaper for me. Thanks in advance guys.

Matt if your only concern is mmo then id consider skipping the oc. Especially if your trying to really keep the total cost of the pc down. The computer you set up in your first post is far and above what any mmo on the market now needs to play. You wont see any benefit from an oc cpu anytime soon with such games.

A few years down the line when new mmo are comming out and your computer isnt as new as it used to be an oc'ed cpu may let you get by with your current rig for the life of that one last game. Or it may not. You need to decide if the cost of the extra cooling and the oc is worth the chance it may help you down the line.
 
As far as the raid0 goes. Raid0 is built for speed. It will help your programs load up big chunks of data faster then a single drive can. But not every game/program will actually benefit from it. More importantly if one HD should stop working then you will lose the data from both drives. You wont be able to just replace the broken drive and continue on. So in essence by using a raid0 setup you double the chances your going to lose everything.

I picked out one of the clearance computers. Figured that was a easy way to get a good comp. I took Jason's advice when he gave it, and got the 173232 build. Its awesome.

If your going to run a ATI video card for AoC it won't be fully workig. AoC is still working on supporting ATI cards.
